Photosynthesis and Chemosynthesis are unique, but also similar. Discuss each of their unique properties and similarities. Are cyanobacteria more plant or animal? Discuss. What makes these organisms special?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Similarities of phosynthesis and chemosynthesis:

Where they both produce food that is for the source of energy.

Where they produce glucose as the main product. Both process are the source of life.

Both are done for the survibility of organism that is plant and bacteria.

Unique characters:

Where photosynthesis occurs only in presence of light where source of energy is light.

Here the source of energy is chemical substances.

The byproduct is oxygen in case photosynthesis where as for chemosynthesis is H2S

Unique feature of chemosynthesis is it breaks the bonds of H2S so that they can get some energy in high and unfavourable conditions.where for photosynthesis ATP is produced during electron transport chain.

Another unique feature is chemosynthesis occur in sea where there is dark and no sunlight.

Cyanobacteria is similar to plants because they donot depend upon food they prepare there own food by the presence of chloroplast through water and sunlight.

Where the special about is that they are prokaryotes unicellular organism which only organism capable of photosynthesis using light and water as a source.

They can also able to fix the nitrogen present in atmosphere through nitrogen cycle.

Magnetism - comparing its basic properties with the basic properties of electricity there are similarities, yet distinct differences, seen. Together, electricity and magnetism can be combined to form the more general theory of electromagnetism - seeing that electricity and magnetism can be seen as "opposites sides of the same coin."
