An element has an atomic number of 76. The number of protons and electrons in a neutral atom of the element are?

Solutions

Expert Solution

1)In every element, the number of protons is equal to its atomic number. Therefore in given element ,

Atomic number =76

Therefore Number of protons = 76.

2) Protons ha + ve charge. To keep element neutral, equal number of -ve charges must be present. Electron has -ve charge. Therefore number of electrons is equal to number of protons.

Number of protons = 76

Therefore, number of electrons = 76.
