The endocrine system is a powerful system because it controls the hormones. Hormones circulate in the blood stream and control various parts of the human body. If a person has an abnormal hormone level, how can we find out that there levels are abnormal besides looking at their appearance? If a woman only produces a minimal amount of oxytocin, how can this affect her during childbirth? Also indicate where oxytocin is made and what part of the body releases oxytocin into the blood stream. What other options does the doctor have in order to successfully deliver this baby?
Hormone testing is best way to find out if the hormone levels are abnormal, for example if a person is diabetic than he will have low insulin levels, or for that matter when there is too much thyroid hormone in blood it could indicate hyperthyrodism.
Oxytocin,, stimulates ripening of the cervix leading to successive dilation during labour, so oxytocin is the main hormone responsible for the contraction of uterine muscle to facilitate child birth, if there is deficency in this hormone inducing child birth would be a problem because of lac of uterine muscle contraction, so in this condition oxytocin is injected in the body to increase the uterine muscle contraction to facilitate child birth
Oxytocin is produced in the hypothalamus and is secreted into the bloodstream by the posterior pituitary gland.
If oxytocin or any other medication fails to induce labour, then Cesarean section or C-section is performed, which is the surgical delivery of a baby by an incision through the mother's abdomen and uterus(womb).
