During the speciation process between two populations, some genes in their genomes continue to be exchanged between species (ongoing gene flow or introgression), while others are more restricted to their own new incipient species (sorting/moving towards fixation). If you were to compare the molecular evolutionary rates of these two types of genes, which would you expect to be evolving faster and why?
The genes restricted to there own new incipients species which are moving towards fixation have higher rates of evolution. This is because their is no mixing of th se genes and this no adulteration, as a result slowluy these genes are moving towards fixation and one of the allele will be pr sent which is more beneficial for the particular species in the particular condition and area. This will lead to a directional selection of these genes as they are selected.
Whereas those which are under gene flow will maintain previous frequencies and their all allele will persist. This, not changing or evolving.
