There are several types of DNA polymerases and RNA polymerases – yet there is only one ribosome. Why is that?
ther are different type of DNA and RNA polymerases because of different requirements of DNA and RNA sequences. like DNA polymerase has different forms in prokaryotes as polymerase i work only for repair type of reaction and DNA polymerase II work in DNA replication, they have different work to perform and they have different properties as well as different processivity.
in the Same way RNA polymerase may also be different based on their function RNA polymerase I transcribe rRNA genes, RNA polymerase transcribe mRNA genes and RNA polymerase transcribe some other tRNA and rRNA genes. so in this war different RNA polymerase perform different function, hence there are different RNA polymerase found.
But in case of ribosome they have only one function either in prokaryotes or in eukaryotes, they have to translate only mRNA (performs only one function) with the hep of codons and tRNA. hence only one type of Ribosome is sufficient for this function.
