The three variables which are most easily changed in Gas Chromatography are the Carrier gas Flow Rate, the Temperature of the Column, and the Polarity of the Column. How might each of these effect the appearance of your GC trace?
The three variables such as carrier gas flow rate, temperature of the column and the polarity of the column has great effect
Effect of carrier gas flow rate: As flow rate of carrier gas increases gives short retention time which results in poor seperation
Effect of temerature of the column: High temperature is unfavorable for the good separation, because, high temperature results in short retention time as a result no interaction between stationary phase which results in poor seperation.
Effect of polarity of the column: If the polarity of componant as well as stationary phase are same then the retention time will be high which gives good seperation.
