INTRODUCTION :
Globalization has become a familiar enough word, the meaning of which has been discussed by others before me during this conference. The economy which we think of as being globalized. We mean that the whole of the world is increasingly behaving as though it were a part of a single market, with interdependent production, consuming similar goods, and responding to the same impulses. Globalization is manifested in the growth of world trade as a proportion of output (the ratio of world imports to gross world product, GWP, has grown from some 7% in 1938 to about 10% in 1970 to over 18% in 1996). It is reflected in the explosion of foreign direct investment (FDI): FDI in developing countries has increased from $2.2 billion in 1970 to $154 billion in 1997. It has resulted also in national capital markets becoming increasingly integrated, to the point where some $1.3 trillion per day crosses the foreign exchange markets of the world, of which less than 2% is directly attributable to trade transactions.
EFFECT OF GLOBALIZATION ON FAMILY AND SOCIETY :
Globalization is the complex relationship that connects and mixes cultures, countries, people, and companies through advanced trading opportunities, investments, and technological capabilities. This integration also includes and is not limited to countries' political, cultural, educational, and perhaps religious views.Globalization has also led to greater cultural understanding. Just as you personally experience increased communication through virtual tools, like the Internet, globalization has helped to improve human connections. Whether I am Googling about tribal cultures or meeting people from India, globalization allows you to learn about other cultures and develop a wider cultural understanding through the Internet and increased opportunities for international travel.Globalisation = increasing inequality in family life and increasing cost of living for the poor. Property price speculation has driven up prices in London meaning the basic costs of maintaining a family household had doubled in the last 30 years relative to inflation, this helps explain why so many young adults today ‘choose’ to live with their parents. There seems to be a globalisation of ‘single person households’. There seems to be a global trend of increasing numbers of people choosing to live alone (not necessarily not being in relationships.
CONCLUSION :
Globalisation has profoundly transformed the world. Changes in the sphere of economics, politics, and society have a great impact on our daily lives. Besides the numerous opportunities that globalisation has brought us, such as increased interconnectedness resulting from advanced communication technology and the expansion of the world market, it has also created a number of significant challenges. Many jobs have become insecure, people work on the basis of short-term contracts, or they are required to work long hours for low wages. However, the transformations brought on by globalisation pervade other facets of our lives as well. There is a growing uncertainty that is significantly reshaping family and community life, including the way it influences young people’s decisions on partnership and family formation.
