Department of Homeland Security is facilitating a whole-of-government response in confronting COVID-19, keeping Americans safe, and helping detect and slow the spread of the virus. The first reports of coronavirus made its way over blue oceans to the United States in January, or perhaps even earlier .
1) The United States (US), which has the most expensive health care infrastructure in the world, remains, by far, the country most affected by the coronavirus pandemic with more than 3.5 million cases and around 140,000 fatalities as of mid july. In my point of view because of not fully strict rule regulation in the earlier stage, US reach within top 5.
2) The pandemic was treated as a state and local issue. There was no standardised federal intervention on the pandemic. The governors and local officials were made responsible for handling it. As a result, the approaches and results varied considerably from state to state.
3) The Federal government provide limited national access to testing, medical equipment and supplies. So there is barrier rise during treatment.
4) Trump was always opposed to sheltering in place. He started suggesting considering reopening the country shortly after people started staying at home. He also tweeted to his millions of followers to liberate states such as Virginia and Michigan where he felt the governors might resist or be too slow in reopening. That cause pay a lot afterward.
5) Misplaced prioritisation of economic concerns over health concerns. Also there has been the consistent rejection and discounting of expert advice. This had huge costs.
6) Some how Including above point, I think Us also achieved success by the patchwork of shutdowns and social-distancing across almost every US state (states like New York and Louisiana) has succeeded in stopping the exponential spread of the virus.
7) Now a days US along with India approaching for the Vaccination for COVID19. It is good for both India and US gov.
So in my point of view , Overall and with a few exceptions in hard-hit states where individual governors demonstrated leadership, the US has managed Covid-19 reactively rather than proactively.
Hope It clear Your Doubt . Thank You
