Answer
Organisms that may be part of the normal bacterial flora, but can--under certain conditions--cause disease are known as oppurtunistic pathogens.
Explanation
Normal bacterial flora are part of human body. Human body shelters around 1014 (10 raised to the power 4) bacteria, mostly on skin and mucosal membranes. They may help human body (by producing various nutrients for host body) or may hurt the host body (infections) or may live in commensal relationship with host body.
Under certain conditions, such as, in compromised host body, these normal bacterial flora may cause disease. Examples of conditions caused by normal bacterial flora are dental caries, endocarditis, periodontal diseases, infections etc.
Cancer patients undergoing treatment and patients with organ transplant are susceptible to infection of normal bacterial flora as their immune system is compromised.
These bacteria take oppurtunity of weak immune system or breached barriers to invade the host body. Thats why they are called Oppurtunistic Pathogens.
Examples of such bacteria include Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae to name a few.
