You have reviewed bacteria and how they cause disease. In some cases the spread of bacterial infections is actually caused by human error. In the Microbial Pie case, you saw how improperly prepared food, poor hand washing, or improperly stored food can cause outbreaks of bacterial infections. In remote areas this could occur as well. Discuss what measures you would take in a remote area of the world where you may be sent by WHO. Remember, you have limited resources, water may be contaminated, and there is no refrigeration.

Expert Solution

A bacteria has been responsible for causing a disease and its review has been carried out. In the Microbial Pie case, unhygeinic conditions such as poor quality of cooked food, not washing hands frequently and improper storage of food has altogether led to the bacterial infection cases. Such cases are also common in remote areas, because there is low facilities present there. Salmonella typhi is a bacteria which is responsible for causing infectious enteric fever, which is known as typhoid. Typhoid is caused due to similar reasons as mentioned in the question, like poor hygeine. Here, the aim is to take measures agaisnt the spread of the disease in remote and rural areas where the resources are limited. The task is challenging by default. The people need to take regular samples from the remote area, and test it for the presene of the bacteria. There should be routine hygeine campaigns in the area, to educate the people about maintaining the proper hygeine. As the area does not have system for refrigeration, the food prepared must be consumed within that day itself. Overall, people must be very careful in these areas.
