1) Refrigeration: It helps in preserving the food materials at low temperatures to slow down deacy and natural metabolic processes.
examples of food stored by refrigeration:
Fresh meat, Fruits,vegatables, seafoods, milk, cream, cheese, fruit juices,egg etc.
2) Freezing- It is the process of preserving food by lowering the temperature to inhibit microorganism growth. This allows the preservation of taste,texture,nutrional value of foods.
eg:Fruits,vegetables, ice cream,frozen dessert, juic,drinking.
3)Canning- It is the method of preserving food in which the food contents are processed and sealed in air tight containers like steel and tin cans,Mason jars etc.
eg: pickeles, fruits, vegetable soups, meat,seafoods,jams. etc
4)Dehydration- It is the method of food storage by drieing the food that is by the removal of water.It inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungus.
eg: dried vegetables, dried fruits,dried meat,dried seafoods, dried nuts and seeds.
5)Pickling- It is the process of preserving or extending the shelf life of food by either anerobic fermentation in brine or immersion in vinegar.
eg: Grapes wine, tomato pickle, chilli pickle,mango pickle,lemon pickle,meat pickle,fish pickle.
6)Fermentation-It is the process of converting carbohydrates to alcohol or organic acids using microorganism like yeast or bacteria under anaerobic conditions.
eg:cultured milk,yoghurt,wine,beer,cider,miso etc
