Label as End State (ES) or Process (P) views of justice?
1) If some in a society have greater wealth than others this is
just only if the difference is due to the fact that those with more
have worked harder for it
2) Just societies must satisfy the basic needs of all their members.
3) A just society must prevent people from unjustly acquiring wealth.
4) Inequality of wealth in a society is just only if people have equal opportunity to attain the positions to which the wealth is attached.
The End State view of justice places emphasis on the outcomes results of social distribution and ask questions about its fairness. On the other hand, the Process view states that unequal social distribution is justifiable if some people have worked harder or have been “lucky” to acquire more resources than others. However, this view abhors individuals who acquire resources through unjust means. Hence, according to these definitions, the statements below may be labeled as:
1) If some in a society have greater wealth than others this is just only if the difference is due to the fact that those with more have worked harder for it: Process view.
2) Just societies must satisfy the basic needs of all their members: End State view.
3) A just society must prevent people from unjustly acquiring wealth: Process view.
4) Inequality of wealth in a society is just only if people have equal opportunity to attain the positions to which the wealth is attached: End State view.
