Imagine that a "truth serum" existed that, when administered, would make everyone tell the pure, unedited truth in all situations. Discuss the pros and cons of such a product. (Are there times in which lying is necessary/acceptable? Or should it be abolished entirely?) Finish with a conclusion in which you either support or condemn the truth serum. Support your decision.
Since childhood we have been taught that lying is an unacceptable behavior. I do agree with the same but at the same time, my personal opinion is that lying when in the situations where it save the lives of individual is required then it is acceptable. But the situation has to be grave, it should not be that one lies to save their extra-marital affair.
Using a serum to make people tell the truth is ok, but again I would say that such a serum must not be used in all the cases. The truth and lie, in my opinion are relative to each individual. What I consider right and let me be the best judge, to judge whether to speak the truth or to lie to save someone’s life. The best judge for the situation specific behavior is the person experiencing it. One should not force the opinion one has in regards to the morality or ethicality about speaking the truth or telling a lie.
Overall, I would like to conclude that the person is the best judge for taking a decision regarding the lie or telling the truth.
