Consider if a Social credit rating system existed in the U.S.A.
1. Would it make people act more ethical?
2. Should the USA give tangible benefits for good conduct?
First of all, being ethical means what you do or how you behave when no one is watching you or judging you.
Therefore, if people are cautious that they are being watched by someone and might be rewarded for good behavior and ethical deeds, this might work out well in the short run. Later, people might just use this as an opportunity to gain fame and respect and any benefits at all that might be payable by the US agencies.
Secondly, it might not be prudent to give away tangible benefits for good conduct, because as said above, people might use it to their advantage and only perform good deeds in front of the camera. Therefore, if any person is actually good in conduct and strong in his moral values, they dont desire any monetary benefits for their deeds. They might be satisafied by even a gesture of ThankYou by the US agencies, or just recognising them for their deeds in front of a small crowd. This might help them keep motivated and satisfied.
