The forces which influences the marketing environment today are as follows:

--Sociocultural forces: Sociocultural environment arises due to the social and cultural beliefs, norms, customs, lifestyles, practices, and tradition within a specific society
--Political forces: It arise through the actions of appointed and elected officials, the actions of rivals, and competitive forces
--Legal and regulatory forces: The legal environment occurs when the government implements’ regulations and laws which affect the approach the business operate.
-- Technological forces: The technological forces are those which create new markets, new products, and new market opportunities
-- Demographic forces: These variables are the characteristics of the aggregate population which business use to segment the market, including income, age, ethnicity, race, and gender.
These are now a day’s more tough because today the competition is increasingly global in scope. Moreover when the economy is slowing (or stalled) and unemployment is increasing thus people have less money to spend, then the job of the marketer becomes harder. The macro factors such as economic, socio-cultural, political-legal, technological, and international are beyond the company's control and they must adapt to it
