Does your organization have a wage gap problem? What can we do as a society to change this? Do you believe this has improved over the past ten years? How and why? Is this issue important to you? Wage gap can be explained by many factors. Some of these explanations are exact factors to look upon when identifying interventions in order to solve the problem of wage gap. Take another example: that is poverty. Black & Hispanic populations in the United States of America have the highest poverty rate than the white population. When analyses control for the education, place of the residence, types of job, & many other factors, remaining differences in the poverty rates are smaller but they are not gone. It is not a myth and a lie, So, to say that black & Hispanic Americans are disproportionately most likely to live in the poverty.
FOLLOWING WAYS CAN REDUCE THIS PROBLEM
1. Interference of Government : companies should be forced to
provide data publically on: % of male and female members. And
should also provide the data related to the pay of both the gender.
Then gender gap should also be reviewed.
2. Enforce paternity leave : Men should take more paternity and shared parental leave. In Sweden shared parental leave has been practiced since 1974.
3. Subsidise childcare : A free part time place for nursery should be available from when the child reaches the 9 months. the cost of child care for many families should cost up to 6000 pound a year.
4. Monitoring programe : There should be a monitoring programe which will taught women on : how to negotiate thier salary? how to reconcile their maternity along with work ? etc
5. Transperancy in Salary : Everyone should be aware of thier colleagues salary. Women should be aware about their rights.
