an organisms that live in the around campus describe temperature and ph . if it is aerobic or anearobic or mesophile

Solutions

Expert Solution

Mesophile: These are moderate temperature loving microbes that grow between 25oC and 40o Most of pathogenic bacteria belong to this group.

The optimum temperature for most of the pathogenic bacteria is 37oC.

  • Most pathogenic bacteria grow between pH 7.2 and 7.6.
  • Very few bacteria, such as lactobacilli, can grow at acidic pH below 4.
  • V. cholerae is an example of the bacteria that can grow at an alkaline (8.2-8.9)ph.

Aerobic bacteria:

They require oxygen for their growth. Their growth is optimum in temperature of 45 C -50 0C and ph optimum is 8.5 -9.0.

Obligate aerobes which can grow only in the presence of oxygen (e.g., P. aeruginosa).

Facultative aerobes which are ordinary aerobes but can also grow without oxygen (e.g., E. coli). Most of the pathogenic bacteria are facultative aerobes.

Microaerophilic bacteria those bacteria that can grow in the presence of low oxygen and in the presence of low (4%) concentration of carbon dioxide.

Anaerobic bacteria:

Obligate anaerobes are the bacteria that can grow only in the absence of oxygen (e.g., Clostridium botulinum, Clostridium tetani, etc.). These bacteria lack superoxide dismutase and catalase; hence oxygen is lethal to these organism.

Optimum pH range in an anaerboic is 6.8 to 7.2 and optimum temperature for anaerobic bateria is generally defined as 35 oC.

It seems to becoming more common for students to live in off campus housing than to pay to live on campus. A study at a large state university revealed that in a random sample of 50 seniors last year, 56% lived in off campus housing whereas this year, a random sample of 50 seniors showed that 64% lived in off campus housing. (a) Is this convincing evidence that the true proportion of all seniors that are living in off campus...

Diffrent groups of organisms had to overcome as they evolved to live in terrestrial environments.
