An important method for obtaining job analysis information is to have employees fill out questionnaires. Explain the reason for this and your thoughts about this process?
Job analysis questionnaires are an important source of information for job analysis. These questionnaires require the employee to fill out details of job requirements and duties to be performed. Questions about job responsibilities and duties are only asked. There are no questions on performance or output. Based on the answers provided, the job structure can be constructed and proper job analysis can be done.
To be more effective the questionnaires should be administered with both lateral and temporal variation. Lateral variation implies same questionnaire must be filled out by a number of employees performing the same job so that small variations can be adjusted for. Temporal variation implies that the questionnaire may be filled by an employee more than once after certain time interval so that slight variation in job content with time can be adjusted for. Also the questionnaire must conain different types of questions such as open-ended, closed-ended, multiple choice type, checklist type etc to get a comprehensive coverage.
