Research the data elements that are required for a Master Patient Index (MPI) and Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI). Compare and contrast the similarities and differences between the 2 sets of data and discuss why there are similarities and differences. Write a Training Proposal based on the similarities and differences of a Master Patient Index (MPI) and an Enterprise Master Index (EMPI). Compare and contrast the similarities and differences between the 2 sets of data and discuss why there are similarities and differences. Also, write the training proposal based on these two types of data bases and the information on each as if you are presenting it to a healthcare audience. In the training proposal state which delivery method you would use to educate the healthcare team(e.g., communication delivery method, length of time for training, materials needed/used, evaluation techniques to ensure competency, etc.)
This is the third time I have edited this post and I think I may have been able to state it correctly now with less confusion? My professor sometimes comes up with the strangest assignments.
The elements required in Master Patient Index (MPI) contains the information of demographic data and visits data. The demographic data contain elements are Patient's name, date of birth, gender, social security number. The information of visit includes the patient admission date , discharge date, what type of encounter and its location and also encoured primary physician with that patient.
- Master Patient Index (MPI) helps in identification of patients within single organisation need for which treatment option The database present in MPI links the patient data elements from time to time visits and every patient enterprise activities .
- Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) in which it connects more than two or multiple organisations of MRI Master Patient Indexes data. it also includes the patient's database helps for healthcare systems to keep accurate patient's medical data. The elements include are Patient's name, date of birth, gender, social security number, contact information , any presence of diagnosis data and also recent patient admission date and discharge date.
Compare and contrast the similarities and differences between these :
The Master Patient Index patient data is in the form of EHR electronic health records and the EHR cannot compare all the patient 's data from various sources with detail .When it comes to Enterprise Master Patient Index , it has the ability to compare and provide accuratly all data of the patient from various systems without any mistake.
- Because Enterprise Master Patient Index uses algorithms with probability and accurate matching form helps in the formation of matching patient data and also decreases the making medical mistakes in the treatment and increases the identification chances which leads to provide quality and efffective treatment to the patient.
--The EMPI uses different tools to maintain data integrity and also increases workflow without any errors and the user can combine, unmerge and also can edit any new details to the record.
- The similarity between these two is they both provide the patient's medical data to healthcare provider and the patient's information. In MPI they maintain dulpicative records of the single patient but EMPI has the merging data of patient from different sources like from many MPI sources.
The training proposal :
The better training proposal of the MPI and EMPI which means the education on collection of accurate data information is important to enhance data quality.
-The training programs and providing any data entry errors feedback from time to time ,
-making the duplicate records of single patient in MPI and Combine that patient records from various sources in EMPI with high accuracy data ,
--Updating patient information, contact details , providing correct name without errors,
--identify the patient recent diagnosis, his treatment plans, his admission and discharge date recently in any hospital,
-- create patient data records wothout mistakes with accuracy.
