Solutions

Expert Solution

1. ANSWER:- 2 units / ml

Heaprin 1000 units in D5W 500 ml

Concentration = quantity( units)/ volume(ml) =1000/500= 2 units/ml.

2. ANSWER:- 0.83 ml/min.

Here, infusion rate = 50ml/hr = 50ml /60min = 0.83 ml/min

( as1 hr= 60 min)

3. ANSWER:- 50 ml/hr

Here the rate is given as 50ml/hr which is the infusion rate itself. Infusion rate means how much amount of drug is infused over a particular time period.

4. ANSWER:- 0.0276 units/(min× ml)

In 500 ml of D5W drug is present 1000 units.

So, in 1 ml drug is present = 1000/500 units

So, in 50 ml drug is present = ( 1000/500)×50 = 100 units

Concentration = 100units/ 50ml= 2 units/ ml

Here, infusion rate is 50ml/hr = 100 units/ 60 min = 1.66 units/(ml×60min) = 0.0276 units/(ml×min)

5. ANSWER:- 2 units/ (hour× ml)

In 500 ml drug is present 1000 units.

1 ml drug is present 1000/500 = 2 units.

So, in 50 ml drug is present = 2×50= 100 units.

Concentration = 100units/ 50ml = 2 units/ ml

Here, infusion rate = 50ml/hr = 100 units/ hr =2 units/ (hr×ml).

6. ANSWER:- 0.2 mg/ml

Nitroprusside 100 mg present in D5W 500 ml

So, concentration = amount (mg) /volume (ml) = 100/500 = 0.2 mg/ml

7. ANSWER:- 1ml/min

Here infusion rate = 60ml/hr = 60ml/60 min= 1 ml/ min

( as 1 hour = 60 min)

8. ANSWER:- 60ml/hr.

Here the rate is itself thee infusion rate .

9. ANSWER:- 0.0033 mg/ (ml×min)

Here in 500 ml drug is present 100mg

So in 1 ml drug is present = 100/500 ml

So, in 60 ml drug is present = (100/500)×60= 0.2×60 = 12 mg.

Concentration = 12mg/60ml = 0.2 mg/ml.

NOW , infusion rate = 60ml/hr = 12mg/ 60min= 0.2 mg/(ml×hr) = 0.2mg/ ( ml× 60 min) = 0.0033 mg/(ml×min)

10. ANSWER:- 0.2 mg / (ml×hr)

As, 500 ml is containing 100mg

1 ml is present in 100/500 mg

So, 60 ml is contains in (100/500)×60= 0.2×60=12 mg

Concentration = 12mg/60ml = 0.2mg/ml

Now, infusion rate = 60ml/hr = 12mg/ hr = 0.2mg/(ml×hr)

11. ANSWER:- 0.1 mg/ml

Here, given 25 mg nitroprusside present in D5W 250ml

So, concentration = amount( mg)/ volume ( ml)= 25/250= 1/10=0.1 mg/ml1

12. ANSWER:- 0.25 mL/min

dopamine 800mg in D5W 500 ml at 400 mcg/min.

Means in 800mg present in 500ml

So, 1 mg present in (500/800)ml

So, 0.4 mg present in (500/800)×0.4= (5/8)×0.4 = 5 ×0.05 = 0.25 ml

Also 1000mcg = 1 mg

1 mcg = 1/1000mg

So,400 mcg= (1/1000)×400=0.4 mg

So, the infusion rate = 400mcg/min= 0.4mg/min = 0.25 ml/min

13. ANSWER:- 0.13 mg/(ml×min)

in 250 ml aminophyline contains 2 g

In 1 ml aminophyline contains = 2/250 g

So, in 20 mL aminophyline contains = (2/250)× 20 = 40/250 = 0.16 g = 160mg

(As1 g = 1000 mg)

Now, concentration = 160mg/20ml = 8 mg/ ml

Infusion rate = 20ml/hr = 160 mg/ 60min = 8mg/(ml×60min)=0.13 mg/(ml×min)

14. ANSWER:- 1mg/(ml×hr)

diltiazem 100 mg in 100 mL

1 mg in 100/100 ml

So, 10 mg in ( 100/100)×10 = 10 ml

Concentration = 10mg/10ml = 1mg/ ml

Infusion rate = 10 mg/hr = 1 mg/(ml×hr)

15. ANSWER:- 15ml/hour

Bretylium 1 g in 250 ml means

1000 mg present in 250 ml

So, 1mg present in 250/1000= 0.25 ml

(As 1g= 1000mg)

Infusion rate = 1mg/min = 0.25 ml/min = 0.25×60 ml/hr = 15 ml/hour

(As 60 min = 1 hour .... so 1 min = 1/60 hour).
