Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer to 6th question: 0.2 mg /mL

Given Order: nitroprusside 100 mg in D5W 500 mL at 60 mL/hr

Dose weight = 100mg, Volume = 500mL

Concentration of solution = Dose weight / Volume

= 100 mg / 500mL = 0.2 mg /mL.

Answer to 7th question:  1mL/min.

Given Order: nitroprusside 100 mg in D5W 500 mL at 60 mL/hr

The infusion rate = 60 mL/hr ( 1Hour = 60 min)

the infusion rate in volume /min (ml /min) = 60 mL / 60 min

    = 1 mL/min.

the infusion rate in volume /min = 1mL/min.

Answer to 8th question: 60 mL/hr

Given Order: nitroprusside 100 mg in D5W 500 mL at 60 mL/hr

The infusion rate in volume / hour  = 60 mL/hr as given per order.

Answer to 9th question: 0.0033 mg / (ml min).

Given Order: nitroprusside 100 mg in D5W 500 mL at 60 mL/hr

In this the concentration of solution = 0.2mg/mL (From question 6th)

That means 0.2 mg per 1 mL

The infusion rate is 60ml/hr

The infusion rate in concentration/ min = 0.2 mg/mL / 60min = 0.0033 mg / (ml min)

infusion rate in concentration/ min is 0.0033 mg / (ml min)

Answer to 10th question: 0.2 mg/(mL hr)

Given Order: nitroprusside 100 mg in D5W 500 mL at 60 mL/hr

1HOUR = 60minutes

the concentration of solution = 0.2mg/mL (From question 6th)

The infusion rate is 60ml/hr

The infusion rate in concentration/ hour = 0.2 mg/mL / hr

= 0.2 mg/(mL hr)

The infusion rate in concentration/ hour =0.2 mg/(mL hr)

Answer to 11th question:  0.1 mg /mL.

Given Order: nitroprusside 25 mg in D5W 250 mL at 50 mcg/min

Dose weight = 25mg, Volume = 250mL

Concentration of solution = Dose weight / Volume

= 25mg / 250mL = 0.1 mg /mL.

Answer to 12th question: 0.25 mL/min.

Given Order: dopamine 800 mg in D5W 500 mL at 400 mcg/min

The infusion rate is given =400mcg /min.

1mg = 1000mcg (micrograms)

1mcg = 0.001mg (milligram)

Conversion of mcg to Mg

400mcg= 400 0.001mg = 0.4 mg

Dose = 400mcg/min = 0.4mg /min

Dose in mg/min  = 0.4mg /min

volume = 500mL

amount of dose = 800mg

Formula for The infusion rate in volume /min:

infusion rate in volume /min(mL/min) = ( Dose in mg/min volume in mL ) / amount of dose in mg

= ( 0.4mg/min 500 mL) / 800mg

= 200 /800 = 0.25 mL/min.

infusion rate in volume /min = 0.25 mL/min.

Answer to 13th question: 0.133mg / (mL min )

Given  Order: aminophylline 2 g in 250 mL D5W at 20 mL/hr

1gram = 1000mg

Given dose = 2gms

Conversion of g to Mg:

Dose = 2gms = 2 1000mg

Dose = 2000mg

Volume = 250 mL

Concentration of solution = Dose weight / Volume

= 2000 mg / 250mL = 8mg /mL .

Concentration = 8mg /mL

Infusion rate = 20mL /hr   ( 1Hour = 60 min)

the infusion rate in volume /min (ml /min) = 20 mL / 60 min = 0.33 mL/min.

The infusion rate in concentration/ min = (8mg/mL) / hour= ( 8mg /ml) / 60min

= (0.133mg/ mL min)

The infusion rate in concentration/ min = 0.133mg / (mL min)

Answer to 14th question: 1mg / (mL hr)

Given Order: diltiazem 100 mg in 100 mL NSS at 10 mg/hr

Dose = 100mg

Volume = 100mL

Concentration of solution = Dose weight / Volume

= 100 mg / 100mL = 1 mg/ mL

Infusion rate in concentration/hour = (1mg /mL) /hour

= 1mg / (mL hr).

Answer to 15 th question:  15 mL/hr.

Given Order: bretylium 1 g in 250 mL D5W at 1 mg/min

Dose = 1g

volume =250mL

1gram = 1000mg

Given dose = 1gms

Conversion of g to Mg:

Dose = 1gms = 1 1000mg = 1000mg

Dose =1000mg.

Dose rate = 1mg/min (1hour = 60min)

convertion of mg/min to mg/hr:

Dose rate = 1mg/min = 1mg/min 60min /hr

Dose rate = 60 mg/ hr.

Formula for The infusion rate in volume /hr:

infusion rate in volume /hr(mL/hr) = ( Dose in mg/hr volume in mL ) / amount of dose in mg

= ( 60mg/hr 250mL ) / 1000mg

= (15000)/ 1000 = 15 mL/hr.

infusion rate in volume /hr = 15 mL/hr.
