ANSWERS:-
6) The concentration of the solution is 20% or 20mg of nitroprusside in 100ml of D5W.
* mass of solute ÷ volume of solution×100
* = 100mg ÷500ml ×100 = 20%
* 20% Meaning 20mg of nitroprusside in 100ml of D5W.
7) The infusion rate in volume/min = 1ml/min
* Ordered infusion rate is 60ml/hr
* To convert ml/hr to ml/ min divide by 60.
* 60÷60 = 1ml/min.
8) Infusion rate in volume/hr = 60ml/hr( already given in the question)
9) Infusion rate in concentration/min = 0.2mg in 1ml/ min( 0.2 mg of nitroprusside in 1ml of D5W)
* 100ml= 20mg
60ml = 60×20÷ 100=12mg in 60ml,( 12mg/hr)
* So to calculate per min= 12÷60= 0.2( 0.2 mg nitroprusside in 1ml of solution)
10) Infusion rate in concentration/hr = 12mg in 60ml/hr.
11) Concentration of solution = 10%(10mg nitroprusside in 100ml of D5W)
* Mass of solute(25mg)÷ volume of solution(250ml)×100= 10%
12) Infusion rate in volume /min = 0.25ml/min
* 800mg= 800×1000=800,000 mcg.
* 800,000mcg= 500ml
* 400mcg = 500×400÷800,000 =0.25( it is easy to mention in drops than ml:- 1/4 of 1ml or 5drops/min when drop factor is taken as 20 and 15drops /min when drop factor is 60 for pediatrics) .
