Recently, the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC has opened a new national museum of African American History and culture.

At the top left of the page click on menu

Choose the restaurant there- The sweet home cafe
Go to the menu of the restaurant at the museum and see what is said about the foods that are offered there. Take a look at all the regional foods on the menu. What do you think might be traditional "soul food", or foods associated with the African American culture? Are the foods new to you?
The museum website has lots of stories in it. Read one thing and describe it.
Soul food
It is an ethnic cuisine traditionally prepared and eaten by African Americans, originating in the southern United States.The expression "soul food" originated in the mid -1960s, when "Soul" was common word used to describe African American culture.
My sweet cafe is Diverse African American regional fare served in the Smithsonian massive food court.
Its a huge selection of comfort saul food from fish dish. Fried chicken with collard green and mac and cheese ia a completely Africans American Cultured food. Also the hush puppies and bread pudding. Carolina pork sandwich with house made chips and brown sugar baked beans shows their specialities.
