Question 1:

Elevated stress levels among students can result in a decreased performance in the academic accomplishments and can affect both the physical and mental health of students.

The psychological effects of stress include:

  • Depression.
  • Anxiety.
  • Problems with cognitive functioning (being unable to concentrate or learn as well as you normally wouldChanges in behavior, such as being irritable, angry, hostile, frustrated, or withdrawn.

Out of many sources the three main sources of stress which will adveresly effect the accademic performance includes,

  1. A heavy workload: Whether it’s advanced-level classes or the amount of studying required, a heavy workload can be a major source of stress for students. This is especially common for older high school students as they start making their post-secondary plans.
  2. Poor sleep schedule: Not getting enough sleep makes it difficult for students to concentrate and learn effectively. This can lead to feelings of stress for your child when he or she isn’t able to perform well in class or on assignments. In fact, studies have shown that students who don’t get the required 8-10 hours of sleep each night are more likely to feel stressed than students who do.

  3. Lack of organization : Students with poor organizational skills tend to experience more stress in school. This is usually because they aren’t properly prepared with the tools or the understanding needed to learn. If those organization skills don’t improve they may continue to fall behind, leading to more stress and frustration about school.

Question 2 :

Some of the Time Management Tips for Busy College Students includes,

  1.   Identify Time-Wasters and Set Goals :

It’s easy to get distracted. Pay attention to what draws the focus away fromthe studies and assignments. Just try to get attentions to check whether students are  spending too much time checking social media, or prone to texting and answering personal phone calls while studying or check a lot of time has passed while you aimlessly browse the web. No matter what is wasting your time, set a goal to not engage in that behavior during dedicated study time. Instead, use those activities as a reward for staying focused and accomplishing the tasks you set out to complete.Make a list of things to do. Identify time wasters. Set goals for completion.

  2. Plan Ahead by Creating a To-Do List :

Identify what students need to do, and then prioritize the tasks based on when the assignment is due and how much time that is need to complete it. This gives a set plan for the day. Whether it’s just a list of priorities or a full schedule for the day, having a plan will ensure that students know what to do and when.Unless there’s a pressing priority, it’s important to also consider what sort of work students are  in the mood to do. If students are feeling creative ,give priority to  work on writing assignment task. If students are  feeling focused, they can spend the day studying for an upcoming exam. Divide your list into things to do now and things to do later. Set due dates.

  3. Take Time Off : It’s important to take time for students activities. Long study sessions or chunks of time working on assignments should be broken up with time away from screens or textbooks. Students need to give their mind a rest. Many scholars have studied the effects of meditation on reducing effects of stress-induced conditions such as back pain, irritable bowel syndrome, and insomnia. The National Institutes of Health gathered these studies and published them in “Meditation: In Depth,” which includes one study that suggests meditation makes the brain’s ability to process information more efficient. Meditation can take place anywhere you can find a few minutes of quiet.
