As per Back et al.,(2011) Personality traits contribute to
developing relationships.
Research by Ackerman & Corretti (2015) states how behavior and
interpersonal motives of an indivisual help with buidling
relationships. Academics results were lowered in individuals when
roomates were paired up with different personality traits and when
studnets were paired with similar personality traits the number in
room changes and residence hall damage decreased by 65% and 35%
respectively, according to a study named Introduction to type and
college.
If the roomates share different personlity types they may be annoyed with each other personalities when commonalities are not found. For example one may be aggresive while the other is a whiner, one may like music while the other one doesn't. This may result in conflicts between the roommates and they may end up sharing a bad relationship with each other. If the roommates share a common personality trait like liking similar kind of music or sport or like shopping then they will end up bondng with each other well and form a good relationship.
