What are the levels or layers of the Coordinated Management of Meaning ?
Coordinated management of meaning (CMM) refers to a theory that provides a description on how people co-create meaning in a conversation in a hierarchical approach through the establishment of regulations. The levels or layers of the CMM include:
-- raw sensory data: the eyes and ears provides the inputs in the form of the visual and auditory stimuli and helps to interpret
-- content: The words are spoken and interpret for easy understanding
-- speech acts: The specific styles and intentions in communication, and relationships with the listener causes a layer
-- episodes: The routines on communication that involves a recognition on the middles, beginnings, and endings
-- life scripts: These are the set of episodes an individual would be expecting with the past or present episodes when they make their participation
-- cultural patterns: the culturally created regulations and rules that govern what people would understand as a normal communication in a given scenario
