What specific behaviors may a nurse employ to show respect and concern for her senior clients?
Answer : Compare to other age group people , nurses should concern more things when taking care of senior clients .Some of them are the following :- 1) Show empathy : Sincere empathy builds rapport .patients should feel as though care providers understand and identify with their concerns. Such honest and open communication shows that care providers recognize client difficulties and genuinely care about patients circumstances. 2) Use plain language : As patients grow older ,their physiology changes considerably. Elderly clients may start to lose their hearing, sight ,short or long-term memory ,and this changes the way they absorb and process information .Using plain language make it easier for them to understand new concepts . 3) Ensure comfort : Physical comfort is important for both patient's and family members. Alleviating physical discomfort reduces distractions during treatment.For instance by providing simple gestures such as blanket ,sweater to cold clients and others nurses can assure comfort . 4)Show sincerity : During visits ,care providers should ask appropriate questions about clients "living conditions and social circles ".It is crucial for a nurse to understand the role that a clients culture and beliefs play in treatment. 5) Build rapport : To build the patient rapport ,nurses should make sure that there should be positive interactions. This starts with each employee who encounters clients properly introducing themselves and finding out patient's name preferences. 6) practice active listening : It is important to remember that senior clients have difficulty to listen and expressing ideas so nurses should use body language to acknowledge them about the things . 7) care providers should understand that elder clients may have differing opinions about contemporary topics .It is important to acknowledge the varied experiences offered by seniors .This recognition can help to bridge generational gaps during communication .
