Food resembles our dependence on God, as we are depended on food for our survival, so we should be dependent on God for our spiritual growth and survival . Food and eating is related to consumption of food physically but metaphorically it denotes feeding ourselves with spiritual knowledge through Words of God. As we satisfy our hunger and physical needs of our body for better growth and development,so should we strive for our spiritual growth and development ,that occurs by listening to God's words, meditating on his Words and applying it in our life ,and this is true worship . A true worship is when we give ourselves to God, we are solely dependent on him for our spiritual growth and when we walk in his ways. Thus, food is a physical resemblance of our dependence on God.
Passover, Communion are representative of sense of sharing. They promote sharing ,eating together is a symbol of unity, love, brotherhood, the main purpose of God for us in this life. Communion is resemblance of bonding of people from different backgrounds,it shows the indiscriminative nature of God.Observing passover requires a family union, thus it strengthenes the familial bonds. As hunger makes us strive for it's satisfaction and when satisfied we are filled with new energy and enthusiasm and helps us to pursue our physical goals,so should we be striving for spiritual growth. Water that is very essential for our survival denotes belief in Jesus Christ spiritually, those who believe in him will not perish.Bread of life is Word of God or the Holy Scriptures of Bible. The spiritual thirst and hunger strives for it's satisfaction which renews our strength and energy through Jesus and word of God.
