In triangle PQR right-angled at Q , PQ = 3 cm and PR = 6 cm. Determine ∠QPR

Solutions

Expert Solution

In triangle PQR right-angled at Q , PQ = 3 cm and PR = 6 cm

tan p = Opposite side / Adjacent side

Using Pythagorean theorem,

PR2 = PQ2 + QR2

62 = 32 + QR2

36 - 9 = QR2

QR2 = 27

QR = 3√3

tan p = PQ/QR

tan p = 3/√3

Multiplying both numerator and denominator by √3, we get

tan p = √3

 ∠QPR = 60°

<QPR=60°
