Hi Garry,

Last week I got to know that you are planning to set up a business of trading with some of your clients in Ireland. While I am happy and wish for your success, I also think it is my duty as a mentor to give some insights on how you can excel in this new endavour of you. As you might be aware too about the culture difference between us and people of Ireland, I would like to point out some of the critical areas you should keep in mind:

• Communication: It would be helpful to you as Irish also speaks English and worship Chrishtianity mostly, it would be better to not be indirect and use slangs which are inappropriate in their society. Try to be direct, polite and soft in your tone while talking in person
• Workplace etiquette: Always make sure that you use proper formality to address someone as acceptable their. While in America we adress someone by their name only, Irish might prefer to use salutations like Sir/Madam before them. Not using these properly may show your insensitivity and can be bad for business.
• Organizational hierarchy: Ireland  have a comparatively flat organizational hierarchy than other countries like Japan where people of junior cadre are also allowed to question the decisions of seniors if they feel it is wrong. Therefore, do not get surprise when a person you may think insignificant questions you.

Atlast, business is always run for the money, ways can be different but the motive is same. Thus always try to give maximum to your clients but also honor their social and cultural values.
