Compare and contrast open architecture and close architecture.
The main difference between a closed-architecture system and an open-architecture system is that a closed-architecture system does not integrate with any components manufactured by another company. In other words, closed-architecture systems are fully proprietary, whereas an open-architecture system can be integrated with the components manufactured by many outside vendors.
An open-architecture system may gives the flexibility of component choice. However, there is no guarantee that a multiple-vendor component system will integrate seamlessly or perform optimally while in closed-architecture does not allows for flexible choice.
In open-architecture, There may also be the complexity and inconvenience of multiple-vendor installations, service, warranties, and training, especially one who is gradually evolving toward a high-tech practice while closed-architecture provide convinient way to provide security, services, warrenties.
In Closed-architecture computer systems the access to vital configuration and programming models and services is strictly restricted. Only the system organiser can configure equipment to the computer, and only the system vendor can implement program changes. whereas Open architecture is used to describe a financial institution's ability to offer clients both proprietary and external products and services.
Open architecture helps investment firms avoid the conflict of interest that would exist if the firm only recommended its own products while closed architecture not focuses on such firms.
The example for closed architecture is "Apple" company where all manufactures, services, security is provided by itself and in case of open architecture the example will projects that supports multiple vendors
