3. A university wants to estimate the percentage of their students who are the first in their families to go to college. There are 40,000 enrolled students. For each part, describe how the university might collect data using the given sampling method
a. Cluster sample
b. Simple random sample
c. Systematic sample
d. Stratified sample
a) Cluster SAmpling:- In this first we make groups and then we use the groups as samples, for example we may group the students of university into males and females into two groups and then selecting the first in their families to go to college from each cluster.
b) Simple random sample :- We randomly pick students from the overall population of 40000 students of the university.
c) Systematic sample:- It is similar to thr random sampling where select the sample systematically in an order which includes more bias. Ie we need a sample of 100 we collect the sample members in an order like every 40000/100 th person which means we select every 400th student in our sample.
d) Stratified sample:- here we make the different classification like we may make the population is first divided into subgroups like different major students makes different groups for example Maths major students as 1 group like that etc., now we select sample of any group which have similar major.
