Stimulant drugs stimulates central nervous system, it increases ones blood pressure, decrease sleep, increases energy, increase alertness. Stimulants when used under doctor's recommendation and guidance is beneficial in many ways, on the other hand stimulants are widely abused.
Amphetamines - belong to a group of synthetic psychoactive drugs which are known as central nervous system stimulants. It increases alertness, self confidence, decrease appetite, increase energy and stimulate cognitive functioning. It is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
On the other hand, intake of Amphetamines encourage individuals to make high-risk choices.Abuse of Amphetamines made the individuals restless, inabilty to focus and concentrate, increased psychomotor agitation, poor balance and coordination.It may lead to more serious health conditions such as convulsions, heart attck, incresaed heart rate.
Another type of stimulant is cocaine, cocaine is known to boost up the creativity, improves social bonding, boosts confidence, feel euphoric, better decision making. On the other hand, abuse of coccaine increases aggression and agitation, increases negative emotions and feelings, in worst case scenario individuals might become paranoid.
Coccaine has lesser half life when compared to amphetamine.
Coccaine in short time is more effective than amphetamine.
Effects of coccaine lasts for an hour but amphetamine lasts for 12 to 13 hours.
Coccaine can be taken topically.
Depressants lowers neurotransmission levels. It affects the central nervous system.They temporarily slowdown the normal brain functioning.
Barbiturates are central nervous system depressants. It is used as anticonvulsant. It is used to treat epilepsy, migraines, and cluster headaches.They have addiction potential and overdose or regular usage might lead to several high risks. It is recommended to avoid during pregnancy as its side effects may even pass on to the new born.
Benzodiazepines are also known as benzos.These psychoactive drugs are helpful in treating epilepsy, anxiety and insomnia. They are more commonly used than barbiturates because of their "anti" properties.The effects of barbiturates are more severe in overdose when compared to benzodiazepines, but they both have equal withdrawl symptoms, leading to severe insomina, restlessness, weakness, fatigue etc..
