Arithmetic mean is 5.6 for the observations 8,1 and 6 that are weighted by 3,2 and 5 respectively.

Find the algebraic sum of the deviations?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Solution

From the question, observations xi = 8, 1 and 6 with frequencies fi = 3, 2 and 5 respectively have an arithmetic mean of 5.6

We have to calculate the algebraic sum of the deviations of observations from the arithmetic mean.

So,

Thus, the algebraic sum of the deviations of observations with given weights from the arithmetic mean 5.6  is zero.

The algebraic sum of the deviations of observations with given weights from the arithmetic mean 5.6  is zero.
