Find the arithmetic mean of observations 8, 1 and 6 with frequency (or weight) 3, 2 and 5 respectively?

Find the arithmetic mean of observations 8, 1 and 6 with frequency (or weight) 3, 2 and 5 respectively?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Solution

Calculate xifi, ∑xi, ∑fi and ∑xifi as given below:

Weighted Arithmetic Mean of the given frequency distribution is given by the formula

x̅=∑xifi / ∑fi

Substitute ∑xifi = 56 and ∑fi = 10 in the formula and calculate:

x̅=56/10

x̅=5.6

So, Weighted Arithmetic Mean of the given frequency distribution is 5.6

Weighted Arithmetic Mean of the given frequency distribution is 5.6
