What is the Elmore delay of an n-input NAND gate? Please explain in detail and either type answer or write with organized and clear handwriting.
The Elmore delay metric is a widely used model to calculate signal delays for both analog and digital circuit interconnects. Although it provides a limited accuracy and its applicability is limited to phase function type input signals, the model is extremely popular with simple analytical functions that can be easily incorporated into design and automation software. In this work, a new limit limiting Elmore delay is introduced. A general form of traditional Elmore delay is defined and solved using this limit. The new solution to the propagation delay problem, called the Elmore delay model, is derived from Jacob Bernoulli's compound interest problem. The advanced Elmore delay formulation and the traditional Elmore delay model are compared according to the Spice simulation environment demonstrations that confirm the improved accuracy of the novel delay formulation. The test results proved that better intent is achieved with better Elmore delay model than traditional Elmore delay model with the same computation speed.
