In which cases the extrusion of polymers is preferable and why?
PLEASE RESPOND TYPING BACAUSE I WANT TO COPY IT.
Extrusion is a type of manufacturing process where lengthy (long) products of constant cross-sections like rods, pipes, wire are made. It is made by forcing the soften polymer material through a die.
Extrusion process is made only for the following cases;
i) The L/D ratio (length/diameter) should be very very large.
ii) It is produce in bulk, i.e it is made in mass produciton. Not 1 or 2 parts are done.
iii) The diameter is very small. Daimeters of 0.5mm to 10 mm can be done. Larger diameters cannot be done in extrusion.
iv) only continuous products like wire, tapes can be done in extrusion.
There is no other process to produce long and continuous products except extrusion. It is really a vety good process for producing long and less diameter products.
