How does the concentration of media ownership limit the number of voices in the marketplace? Do we need rules limiting media ownership? 250 words
Concentration of the media ownership is an entire process in which progressively very few number of individuals or organisations will be controlling the increasing shares of the mass media and these media industries will be highly concentrated and dominated by a small number of companies.
Concentration of media ownership are resulting into limiting the number of players in the market place because there are always a cartel which had been formed by the media and these media are highly biased in nature so they will be trying to influence the public to a large extent by communicating the way they want so there are a lack of free opinion in the market and there are lack of honest voices In The marketplace so it is leading to deterioration of the the democracy to a large extent because media has corporatized itself and it has formed cartel and there are certain media which are exaggerating the work which has been done by the government and there are other type of media which is against the government and they are trying to bring down the Government so they have become highly biased and concentrated and they have engaged into influencing of the people to a large extent by reporting highly biased news it is affecting the transparency in the democracy and there has been a limitation on the free speech because of the cartelisation of the media.
Hence, it can be said that we will be needing rules in order to limiting the media ownership so that media should not be able to form cartels and we should be limiting their ownership and regulating them to a certain extent as they are responsible for communication of true picture to the public but they are engaging into biased opinions which are leading to exploiting the interest of the public.
