‘Only after the last tree has been cut down, Only after the last river has been poisoned, Only after the last fish has been caught, Only then will you find out money cannot be eaten’. What is Deegan demonstrating by utilising this ‘Cree Indian saying’? Explain.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Deegan is demonstrating that if we destroy all our precious resources then we will left with nothing find and then we will realise that money is not everything.

Here focus is trying to highlight the importance of resources and  how people are exploiting their resources at such alarming rate and if this will continue then we would left with nothing except regret. People are depleting their resources, polluting them and even threatening some rare species just for the sake of money.

Instead focusing on sustainable development and optimum utilisation of resources, people are selfishly crossing all the limits in exploiting the nature and trying to hoard more and more money with themselves. They don't even realising that if all resources would get destroyed then what will they do with their money.

At the end Deegan is trying to give us a wake up call that if we continue like this then day is not far when survival of human becomes difficult.

Coffee prices are coming down again, after hitting a record high of $4.42 last year.  An agricultural Department economist, who had predicted $5.00 a pound coffee this year, says he "underestimated the power of the U.S. consumer movement."  Perhaps as with so many economists these days, he simply forgot his freshman economics, which has nothing to do with "movements."  The coffee market is behaving the way the basic textbooks say a market behaves.  Prices go up, demand falls, and prices come down.            1.         Consider the last...
