1. Developing empathy helps an individual to understand others emotions.
Emotions of sorrow, anger and fear are sometimes challenging to understand. For example fear of facing a difficult situation creates anxiety and this anxiety follows the person everywhere, it's reflected in all over expression for few days untill the phase of difficulty is over.
2. Defensive pessimism is preparedness of an individual to face difficult situation, the anxiety or the pessimistic thoughts motivates an individual to plan in defence to tackle the failure or avoid the failure. Also,it creates a preparedness in the individual to work harder for success in the condition of failure. Thus, defensive pessimism is beneficial.
Having an optimistic attitude is always beneficial, but, also preparedness for a difficult situation or an unknown event is a better option by having defensive pessimism within a limit. Thus, both are beneficial.
