discuss the consequences of the failure of a former clot to dissolve
Blood clotting is a normal phenomenon that prevents excess loss of blood in case of injury however failure to dissolve it might cause a lot of trouble. This leads to serious complication in a body if it is not treated. The blood clot can be formed anywhere within the blood vessel in the body and it leads to interference in the blood circulation and flow. Some of the problems that are caused by failure of blood to clot are.
Pulmonary Embolism – This is a blood clot present in the pulmonary artery within the lungs and might lead to low level of oxygen in the blood. It might lead to damage to heart, lungs and other related organs.
Kidney damage – The blood clots present in the kidney can cause damage to the kidney due to build up of the fluid. This also leads to building up of the waste material and might cause high pressure.
Deep vein thrombosis – This type of clot is formed within the deep vein in an arm or leg and there is a chance that it might travel to the lungs.
The blood clots if not dissolved might restrict the overall blood flow throughout the body. It might also lead to complications in pregnancy that usually occurs in the veins of the pelvis or other lower extremities. The risk of pulmonary emboli leads to restricted blood flow to the growing fetus and might cause miscarriage or maternal death.
