  1. Briefly describe three ways that insulin is stimulated? A direct response to high glucose is not an acceptable answer.

  2. What is the clinical relevance of detecting glucose in the urine?

Solutions

Expert Solution

1. The abnormal increase of insulin in the blood circulation is called Hyperinsulinemia. There may be many reasons for this Hyperinsulinemia except high blood glocose like-

  • Metabolic Syndrome: Metabolic orders like hypertension, obesity, dislipidemia, glucosee intolerance can cause the pathogenic condition of hyperinsulinemia.
  • Auto-immuno disease: If the receptor of the beta cell is affected by the auto-immuno disease can cause pathogenic condition of hyperinsulinemia.
  • Drugs: Some times drugs are also responsible for the abnormal productioon of insulin and results hyperinsulinemia.

2. The presence of glucose in the urine indicate some disease like-

  • Hyperglycemia: If the blood glucose level is higher than the normal range then the glucose can be detected in the urine of the individual.
  • Renal disfunction: If the nephrone of the kidney is unable to reabsorbe the filtrate glucose,so it may be detected in the released urine.
