Analyse the different degrees to which rationalisation is used in different contemporary organisations, and the extent to which this is desirable for different organisations
The concept of Rationalization given by Taylor and Ford is not much relevant in the contemporary organisations but has also not become obsolete as many contemporary organisations have been witnessed using this concept to their advantage. The McDonalds is one such corporation which uses Rationalization in high degree as its operations demonstrate bureaucratic structure and are based on scientific management techniques and assembly line. The company uses rationalised techniques to establish control and maintain efficiency in the operations. Due to the nature of operations, the hotel industry undertakes rationalised techniques. Moreover the Business process outsourcing (BPO) industry also uses the rationalised techniques to establish a proper control over the workforce located overseas or connected to business virtually. Moreover the emergence if T industry and the advancements taken place have enabled the businesses to extend control and maintain rationalization along with flexibility and change management. The rationalised techniques are desirable to the organisations such as those offering basic service which want to minimize the cost to greater extend and hence use rationalised techniques to exert surveillance over the contemporary organisations which also undertake flexibility and " Openness to experience " culture. Those organisations producing a standard product and operating under more stable environmental conditions are more likely to incorporate rationalization as the dynamics of environment do not affect its operations to great extend. .
