and -why it is considered as data mining:

(a) Manufacturing
(b) Medical/Pharmacology
(c) Physics/Astronomy

Solutions

Expert Solution

Data mining is used to extract useful informations from a large database. It is used in most of the industries nowadays to predict and analyse outcomes from datas.

Data mining is used in :

a) Manufacturing: In manufacturing, datas are extracted from large databases which contains information about the company. The information extracted from the data are used to predict outcomes, to assure quality. Even if there is any fault in the manufacturing it can be predicted to provided quality to the end user.

b) Medical/ Pharmacology: In medical field data mining is used to predict treatment of a patient from the previous records of the patient. It uses the data to predict the outcome such that the cost is decreased. It can be used to find inefficiency in a process and improve care for a patient.

c) Physics/astronomy: Just like any other process in data mining, in astronomy uses data mining to extract useful informations from a huge data set. In astrophysics data mining can be used to predict redshift and blueshift of stars to determine they are going away or coming towards us. This makes it easier to determine physical parameters such as stars and galaxies.
