Immunization is done in order to prevent few deadly diseases in the future. Millions of people are saved through the immunization programmes throughout the world. Especially, certain vaccines are given to children in order to build their immunity from the diseases that will them in the later life. Vaccinations are relatively cost effective and reach more population. United Nations has added complete immunization as one of its sustainable goals. So, it celebrated World Immunization Week, 24-30 April 2017.
Vaccines that are administered as part of the immunization programme to millions of healthy people and children are put to series of tests in order to make sure that they meet the three primary qualities such as its potential to serve the purpose for which it was developed, pure without any trace of unwanted chemicals agents other than the permitted and finally sterile or clean.
Apart from the government there are other agencies such as Clinical Immunization Safety Assessment Project (CISA), Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS), Additional research and testing, The Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD) and Post-licensure Rapid Immunization Safety Monitoring System (PRISM) that have joined hands with the government in order to make sure the production, packing, delivery, administering and after effects of the vaccines. So immunization programmes are very safe.
