Expert Solution

The different options expecting parents have for giving birth include;

1. Vaginal Delivery

Benefits of vaginal delivery:

Shorter hospital stays

Lower infection rates

Quicker recovery

Babies born vaginally have a lower risk of respiratory problems

A vacuum extraction or forceps can be used, when required for vaginal delivery.

The women who have delivered vaginally often have more problems with bowel or urinary incontinence than women who have had C-sections, (CDC, 2015)

2. Cesarian Section (C-Section) which is a surgical incision in the mother's abdomen and uterus. Circumstances, which require a C-section include;

Multiples (twins, triplets, etc)

A very large baby

Previous surgery, C-Sections, or other uterine conditions

Baby is in breech (bottom first) or transverse (sideways) position

Placenta previa (when the placenta is low in the uterus and covers the cervix)

Fibroid or other large obstruction

An increased risk of blood loss and a greater risk of infection is involved in a C-section (MayoClinic,2015).
