Biomes
Biomes can be defined as the community of plants and animals in aregion. The term was suggested by Clements.They can be terrestial Biomes and Aquatic Biomes. There are different types of biomes such as Aquatic, tundra, grassland, desert, forest..
*Desert Biome
- These biomes have less than 12 inches of precipitation annually
- Presence of high temperature and dry climates throughout the year.
- Can be defined as a temperate or tropical biome seen in center of continents.
- Desert biomes are classified into , Hot and dry, Coastal, Cold, Semiarid.
- Reduced plant occurence and greenary.
- Cacti, Reptiles, Burrowing owls can be seen here
eg. Sahara desert of North Africa
*Grassland Biome
-Area dominated by grasses
_ Located between a forest and desert.
- Two kinds . Tropical aand Temperate grasslands
- North American Prairies, Steppes are examples of temperate grasslands. Savannas of Africa is an example of Tropica; grassland.
- 25 % of earth is of Grass land biomes

*Tundra Biome
- Is an example of Treeless Biome.
- Alphine tundra is seen high altitudes in mountains whereas arctic tundra seen in high iatitudes.
- Receive only small little amount of water as precipitation.
- Includes lemmings, caribou, fishes, migratory birds..
* Coral reefs Biome
- Is an example of an aquatic biome.
- Is seen in shallow and infertile areas close to land.
- They are of Three types, fringing reefs, barrier reefs, coral atolls.
- The temperature range is between 70 to 80 degrees.
* Boreal coniferous Forest biome
- Also known as Taiga
- Seen in moist climates with cold winters
- Mostly dominated by coniferous trees.
- Affected by wildfire and attack of insects.
- Considered as world's largest land biome.
