What is anhedonia? In what conditions anhedonia is observed?
Anhedonia is a situation where one is unable to feel joy in what otherwise were pleasureable activities for an individual. Presently it is also being used to refer to deficits in other aspects of reward like motivation behavior, wanting, reinforcement learning etc. Anhedonia can be social or physical in nature. In the former one avoids spending time with other people while in latter physical sensations don't give pleasure. Then there is another area of sexual anhedonia.
Anhedonia is observed in a number of conditions. Some examples:
Major depressive disorder (MDD),
Schezophrenia,
Substance abuse disorder,
Bipolar depression,
Parkinson's disease.
