Tom and Susan were searching the Internet to find information on air travel in the United States. They found data on the number of commercial aircraft flying in the United States during the years 1990-1998. The actual dates were recorded as the number of years since 1990. Meaning, that the year 1990 was recorded as year 0. They then analyzed the data with a least squares regression output and a residual plot shown below. The original scatter plot was not shown.
1. Is the line an appropriate model to use for these data? Clearly explain your reasoning. Please type answer or write legible.
Yes line is appropriate model
Least Squares Regression Line? ... That line is called a Regression Line and has the equation y= a + b x. The Least Squares Regression Line is the line that makes the vertical distance from the data points to the regression line as small as possible
1. Is the line an appropriate model to use for these data?(No data available)
To find the line of best fit for N points:
Suppose we wanted to estimate a score for someone who had spent exactly 2.3 hours on an essay. I’m sure most of us have experience in drawing lines of best fit, where we line up a ruler, think “this seems about right”, and draw some lines from the X to the Y axis. In a room full of people, you’ll notice that no two lines of best fit turn out exactly the same. What we need to answer this question is the best best fit line.
There is no datset hence gave theoretical data subjective to understanding
