17) Protein synthesis could not occur without the mRNA, the ribosome, and tRNAs- which are RNA molecules that bring the ___________monomers of a growing protein to the ribosome and mRNA during the process of translation.
A) Nucleotides B) Monosaccharides C) Nucleic Acids D) Amino Acids

18) During terminal differentiation multipotent stem cells become somatic tissue cells; if a somatic cells contains a proteome that is designed to create movement within an organ- it likely belongs to this tissue type:
A) Epithelial B) Connective C) Muscle D) Nervous

19) When a cell or tissue pathology (damage) occurs due to a lack of oxygen, this is referred to as:
A) Lysis B) Hypoxia C) Apoptosis D) Necrosis

20) Which of the following is a type of tissue necrosis?
A) Coagulative B) Caseous C) Liquefaction D) All of these are correct

Solutions

Expert Solution

17) D- amino acid as they are subunit of all proteins

18)A- epithelial tissue as proteome leading to movement in organ is cilia or microvilli which is present in epithelial layer of a cell.

19)D- Necrosis - Necrosis is caused by factors external to the cell or tissue, such as infection, toxins, or trauma which result in the unregulated digestion of cell components..

Six characteristic morphologic patterns of necrosis are distinguished in pathology: coagulative necrosis, caseous necrosis, liquefactive necrosis, fat necrosis, fibrinoid necrosis, and gangrenous necrosis. Necrosis typically results in a loss of cell membrane integrity and an uncontrolled release of products of cell death into the extracellular space, which initiates an inflammatory response. Typical morphologic features of necrotic cell death, which occur in most but not in all eukaryotic cells, include mitochondrial swelling, lysosome rupture, and plasma membrane rupture....

20). D- all of the above..

Ribosomes provide the scaffolding on which tRNAs interact with mRNA during translation of an mRNA sequence to a chain of amino acids.
Part A -tRNA interactions with mRNA and the ribosome Ribosomes provide the scaffolding on which tRNAs interact with mRNA during translation of an mRNA sequence to a chain of amino acids. A ribosome has three binding sites, each of which has a distinct function in the tRNA-mRNA interactions. Drag the appropriate tRNAs to the binding sites on the ribosome to show the configuration immediately before new peptide bond forms. Note that one of the binding sites should be left empty.
